Inspiration: Blacksad #nanographicmo

Ever since the french edition came out in 2001 (I’ve the second printing 2002) I’ve dragged the Blacksad sketchbook ‘les dessous de l’enquete’ around for inspiration. Of course I use it as a drawing board as well. (I hear cries of bibliophiles all over the world)
When I’m cranky with how a page is progressing I flip to ‘the living room scene after the gunshot’,
lesson learned: walk away for clarity return later to fix the mf-page
Or when I’m bored with colorproofs, I’ll flip to Guarnido’s lighting studies of the ‘confrontation with the big bad’ Lesson here: Always give yourself options rarely you get it right in one go and maybe another lighting will actually tell the story better.
What are your inspirations? Share them in the comments, blog-reply or tweet me @yskaya/@nanographicmo :) I’d love to know.
